PART ONE:  In example one, uses a single-string scale based funky melodic riff to help introduce the "string-pop" technique. Work at applying the "funky string snap" technique to all upper tones of the riff. Use the guitar pick (plectrum) on the 5th and 6th guitar strings.

Example two takes the funky string snap technique further by applying it to small triad chords. A funky two-measure phrase applies the string pop technique to a single-note line riff built off of the 3rd and 2nd guitar strings.

PART TWO:
Exercise three shifts focus to the acoustic guitar (steel-string), and introduces a "slap-bass" concept that employs the side of the picking hand's thumb to generate a similar sound to what a slap-bassist produces.

Exercise four takes the application of the "funk pick" approach over to the world of country guitar. A country guitar riff is performed using the string snap funk pick technique.
