2 Octave Guitar Scales - Slow Alternate Picking Exercise

GuitarBlog: 2 Octave Guitar Scales - Slow Alternate Picking Exercise...

This week on the GuitarBlog I cover the study of 2 octave scales.

Practicing guitar scale patterns, of any type, (major or minor), are critical for both guitar technique and fingerboard knowledge. Learning scale patterns will not only help develop many areas of your guitar playing, but the they are important for improvisation, and for ear training, as well as, overall ear development.

The better that you know the guitar neck scale patterns, the better guitar player you will become over time. In this lesson, I will focus on alternate picking the 2-octave major & minor scales.

Once these shapes are memorized up to a good level of playing skill, you'll be able to apply them to any key, anywhere on the guitar's fingerboard. Enjoy the lesson!
