Micro Lesson 073: "B Minor" Arabian Pentatonic Minor Melody

Welcome to... "Micro-Lesson 073"

This Micro Lesson runs through the unique sounds of the "Arabian Pentatonic Minor scale."

This very interesting scale is extremely close to the basic minor pentatonic. However, it adds a Major 2nd and omits the Minor 7th. It's scale degree formula is; 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, The result is a very open and quite distinct minor sound.

Arabian Pentatonic Minor can be used over simple minor triads, minor 7th, minor 9 and suspended chords.

In this lessons example, I've applied the scale across the entire guitar fingerboard.

The melody mixes patterns of sixteenth-notes with eighth-notes. Take your time developing the feel and be sure to apply the correct fingerings for all of the positions shifts.
